Welcome to the Charleston Association of Legal Assistants (CALA)! Thank you for visiting our website. My name is Lene Rex, CP, SCCP, and I am the President of this wonderful organization. The Board members and I anticipate incredible growth and opportunity in the coming years. We hope you will consider joining us!
CALA is a local association of paralegals, legal assistants and legal professionals serving within the low country/tri-county area. We are an affiliated association (AA) with the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA)–The Paralegal Association. We abide by the NALA Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility. Our success is based on our members (past, present, and future), the Board, and our corporate sponsors.
CALA offers NALA approved CLE credits throughout the year. This benefits certified paralegals that are required to maintain their certifications, as well as those who are seeking to grow their paralegal career. I encourage you to attend as many meetings as possible. This is a great opportunity to network with other professionals in the legal profession! Furthermore, CALA members are also active in community outreach, providing support to several non-profit organizations in the Charleston tri-county area, such as, Helping And Lending Outreach Support (HALOS), Low Country Food Bank (LCFB), Toys for Tots toy drive, etc., to name a few.
