From CALA’s President, Barbara Carter, “This is truly amazing! We are so proud to be a part of such an amazing community! Thank you!”

Thank you to everyone that donated and participated this year; you’ve made a substantial difference and many will benefit because of your contributions!

Soup: Portobello and Brie Soup

Salad: Spinach Salad with Marinated Artichoke, Red Onions, Almonds & Dried Cranberries with Raspberry Vinaigrette and Balsamic Vinaigrette (Dressing on the side)

Frustrations with E-Filing? Tips for you and a polite request to share same….thanks, CALA.

Frustrated with E-Filing? Check out this link to learn more, be the go to at your firm and give the Clerks of Court a little reduction in calls: http://www.sccourts.org/efiling/

Another good one: http://www.sccourts.org/clerkOfCourtManual/index.cfm

Sometimes you just have to call… Good luck and please share any useful tips. (Example: I learned yesterday from a co-worker that if you want to file a document with the RMC in Fairfield County, you still have to make the check payable to the Fairfield County Clerk of Court.) Despite 10+ years of experience, I did not know that. I learn at least five new things a day.

SC Courts E-Filing System will permit you to file your case directly with the Court of Common Pleas in any county where E-Filing is available. Please review the

Tip Re: Family Court/Court Reporters Assigned to Judges per Term & How to Find this Information

A paralegal was in a situation where a hearing was scheduled and the court reporter listed for the term in which the hearing was scheduled was unable to attend the day of the hearing. What does one do?

You can call Court Administration at 803-734-1800 and ask for the Court Reporter’s Department or you can always check assignments and court reporters by going to www.sccourts.org .  Click on the word “Calendar” in the blue bar at the top of the page, then click Terms of Court, find the county and that will take you to a list of the judges in that county (scroll down for the Family Court), and the court reporters assigned will be listed under the Judge’s name.

I hope this information is useful and please feel free to utilized the contact us form or email calaliaison@gmail.com with any other useful tips and resources that you would like to share as well as any questions or requests for same.
