Thank you so much for visiting our website. My name is Lene Rex, ACP, SCCP, and I am honored to serve as President of this wonderful organization. On behalf of our Board, I want to extend a heartfelt welcome to you. We are excited for the growth and opportunities ahead, and we sincerely hope you will consider becoming part of our community.
CALA is a vibrant local association of paralegals, legal assistants, and legal professionals across the Lowcountry/Tri‑County area. As an Affiliated Association of the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA)—The Paralegal Association—we proudly uphold the NALA Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility in all that we do.
Our success is built upon the dedication of our members—past, present, and future—along with the support of our Board and generous corporate sponsors. Throughout the year, we offer NALA‑approved CLE opportunities, benefitting both certified paralegals maintaining their credentials and those looking to further their professional development. We encourage you to attend as many meetings as you can; they are a wonderful way to learn, grow, and connect with fellow legal professionals.
CALA is also deeply committed to community service. Our members actively support local nonprofit organizations such as HALOS, the Lowcountry Food Bank, Toys for Tots, and others throughout the Charleston area. Giving back is at the heart of who we are.
